The Organ & The Harpsichord

Maria Morozova-Meléndez began her musical studies on the piano in Ukraine. During her studies at the Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kiev, she became fascinated with the harpsichord and with chamber music of the Baroque era. In 2006, she founded the ensemble “Perola Barroca,” and began also to play with various European ensembles as a continuo player. In 2008 she moved to Basel to study harpsichord at the Schola Cantorum with Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, and to expand her knowledge of understand historical performance practices, began to play the organ as well. 

In 2011, she began post- graduate studies in church music and organ in Luzern. Since 2015, she is choir conductor and organist at the Catholic church in Erschwil where she performes a J. J. Brosy franch organ from 1788 and the Catholic church Büsserach, Switzerland. Since 2016 she is a member of the Swiss assosiation “Cornetto Revival”, for which she works as a harpsichord and organ player in ornamentation courses, CD recordings, symposiums atc.
