Svetlana Fomina begins her studies in violino at the age of six, at the Novosibirsk Conservatory, where she gets her diploma in 1990 with distinction. Since 1985 she has a full performing activity in ancient music. In 1995 she wins the scolarship at the Conservatory of Milano, and moves to Italy. In 1992 studies baroque violin at the Schola Cantorum Basileensis with Chiara Banchini. She begins to play as violinist and violoist with a baroque orchestra ‘Concerto Köln’. Continues her studies in baroque violin under the direction of Reinhard Goebel and Enrico Gatti. She plays at Mozartfest Wurzburg, Festival Baroque Chateau de Versailles, Festival de Lanveller, Festival d’Ambronay.

Concerts with Rene Jacobs, Rene Clemencic at the Festival Eurograz 93, 48° Festival de Musique Montroux, Festival of Bielefeld, at the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Festival de la Chaise Dieu, Mittelaltertage Naumburg, with Concerto Köln and A. Staier. Since 1995 plays with Le Concert des Nationes directed by Jordi Savall, with Kenneth Gilbert, Orchestra ‘Europa Galante’ directed by Fabio Biondi. Performs at Festival of Saintes, Festival Voix d’ete en Creuse, Festival of Royauemont (France), Festival Tibor Varga of Sion (Switzerland).Concerts in Paris, Colmar, Barcellona, Saragozza, Sajazarra, Calw, Hirsan, Neuenburg, Buenos Aires, Festival of Cuenca, Cremona, Regensburg, Anversa.

Plays in the Teatro Regio di Torino, Orchestra Les musiciens du Louvre directed by Marc Minkowski. Since 1998 plays with the orchestra ‘Accademia Montis Regalis’ and ‘Accademia Bizantina’ (O. Dantone).

Since 2000 performs with I Barocchisti (D. Fasolis), Ensemble Risonanze, Carlo Chiarappa, Modo Antiquo ( F. M. Sardelli), Musiciens du Louvre, La Venexiana, Accordione (Guido Morini and Marco Beasley), Atalanta Fugiens (Vanni Moretto), Chamber Orchestra De Sono, RAI Torino Orchestra, Xenia Quartet.

Since 2001 she dedicates to the viola, studying at the Conservatory of Lugano with M. Wolfram Christ and with S. Braconi, D. Rossi, S. Briatore and Davide Zaltron, under the direction of whom she gets her diploma in 2003 at the Torino Conservatory.

Performs with the group of contemporary music ‘Sentieri Selvaggi’ directed by Carlo Boccadoro. A part of the sextet with Marco Decimo and Ludovico Einaudi, she performs more than 200 concerts in the most renowned concert halls in Europe ( Royal Albert Hall, Barbican-London, Cambridge Cors Exchange, the Helix – Dublin, Brigenater Hall Manchester, Usher Hall Edinburgh, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Colston Hall Bristol, Auditorium di Roma, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Teatro Reggio and Reggia di Venaria Torino, Filarmonica Berlin, etc), USA, Canada, Russia. Plays with the Ensemble la Venexiana (primo violino) in recordings and concerts in Europe, Usa, Giapan, Israel.

Since 1987 she plays the viola d’amore as solo and in various orchestras. She has been collaborating with Cecilia Bartoli for many years within the “I Barocchisti” group and since 2017 she has been part of the Les Musiciens du Prince – Monaco orchestra, founded by Cecilia Bartoli and directed by Gianluca Capuano. She recorded more than 70 cds.
